About these terms
These terms apply to this website and everything published on it under the name What Helps (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What the site is
What Helps is an independent educational resource. It explains what published research, product labels and regulatory notices say about supplements, medicines and other options, and how they compare. Access is free and does not require an account.
Not medical advice
Nothing on this site is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and using it does not create a relationship between you and a healthcare professional. Do not start, stop or change a medicine or supplement on the basis of what you read here without speaking to a qualified professional, and never delay seeking care because of it. Read the full medical disclaimer.
In an emergency, contact your local emergency number immediately.
Questionnaires and tools
Questionnaires, comparisons and example routines help you find relevant information. They do not diagnose a condition, confirm that an option is suitable or safe for you, or prescribe a dose. Any output is general information that depends entirely on the answers you give.
Accuracy and updates
We work to keep content accurate, sourced and up to date, and we correct errors when they are reported. Research, product labels, approvals and prices change, and they differ between countries. We do not guarantee that everything on the site is complete, current or applicable where you live. Always check the label and instructions of the specific product you use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the site in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights;
- interfere with its operation or security, or try to access areas that are not public;
- overload it with automated requests, or copy it in bulk to republish it as your own;
- present our content as medical advice, as an endorsement of a product, or in a misleading way.
Content and rights
The text, structure, design, graphics, images and logo on this site belong to us or are used with permission, and are protected by intellectual property law. You may read, share links to and print pages for your personal, non-commercial use, and quote short excerpts with a clear link back to the source page. Any other use needs our written permission.
Photographs and illustrations are illustrative and may be digitally created. People shown are not patients, and images do not represent the result of any treatment. Names of products and organisations mentioned belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the source being discussed.
Products, links and affiliates
We do not sell supplements, medicines or devices. Pages may link to other websites, including retailers. Some links may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are disclosed next to the link, and commercial relationships do not decide what we write or how options are ranked.
We are not responsible for the content, products, prices, availability or practices of other websites. Any purchase is a contract between you and the seller.
Disclaimers
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, about its accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or affects rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country of residence.
Changes
We may change, suspend or remove any part of the site, and we may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the operator of the site is established, without affecting the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
